Enrolment Process - Year 6 into Year 7

We would like to welcome your family to Western Heights Secondary College. We understand the transition from primary to secondary school can be overwhelming for families, therefore we have prepared some important dates and information regarding the transition for students from Year 6 — 7.
The below information is set out by the Department of Education across all Victorian schools.
The enrolment process for Year 7 commences in Term 2, for the 2025 intake, please read the below information and timeline to familiarise yourself with the process.

SPECIALIST SPORTS PROGRAMS
Step 1 - Express your interest before the10th of May - Expression of Interest - Year 7 SSP 2025
Step 2 - April 29th - May 3rd: SSP Trials will be held, and only our local students residing in the Western Heights College zone can attend.
Step 3 - Complete the Application for Year 7 placement by May 10th, and nominate WHC as your first choice of Government School. If you miss the deadline, please contact Sophie Trezise at sophie.trezise2@education.vic.gov.au. If your Grade 6 child attends a Catholic or Independent School, please complete the direct enrolment form and submit it to the front office; attention Sophie Trezise.
Step 4 - After May 20th, SSP Offers will be given to successful local students (students outlined in Step 3)
Step 5 - July 17th: Offers for enrolment to WHC will be sent out.
Step 6 - Those who have accepted an offer of enrolment will be invited to attend the SSP trial of their nominated sport. Details of dates, times and venues will be provided upon acceptance of the enrolment offer.
Step 7 - Attend a SSP Trial, which will be held between August 7th - 15th.
Step 8 - After August 26th: Offers into the SSP will be emailed.
Step 9 - November 1st: SSP non-refundable deposit for Year 7 2025 is due.

ASPIRING ATHLETES PROGRAM
In 2025, the Aspiring Athletes Program will only be offered to students who reside in our residential zone.

Attend the trial at Western Heights College on the 27th of March. If you miss this trial, your Child can trial in April/May with the SSP program.
Tuesday 16th April: First round offers emailed out for local students who trialled on the 27th.
Complete the Application for Year 7 placement by May 10th, and nominate WHC as your first choice of Government School. After May 20th: AAP offers will be given to successful local students who trialled in April/May.
July 17th: Offers for enrolment to WHC will be sent out.
November 1st: AAP Non-refundable deposit is due.

ACCELERATE PROGRAM
Submit an expression of interest - 2025 Accelerate Program EOI by 10th May 2024.
Students in our zone will be invited to an interview which will be held at WHC on the 26th of March.
After 16th April: First round offers will be emailed out for local students only.
Step 4 - Complete the Application for Year 7 placement by May 10th and nominate WHC as your first choice of Government School. If your Grade 6 child attends a Catholic or Independent School, please complete the direct enrolment form and submit it to the front office; attention Sophie Trezise.
After 18th July: receive booking link for interview for all students outside of our zone or those who did an EOI after 26/3/24.
After 21st August offers sent to successful candidates with enrolment packs.

YEAR 7 SCHOLARSHIPS
Western Heights College scholarships are awarded to Year 6 students who demonstrate a dedication to learning and commitment to our College values of Community, Integrity and Courage. Prospective students who understand and align their behaviours are invited to apply. Applications close Friday 26 August 2023. Scholarship applications will be sent out with Year 7 2024 Acceptance packages.

Students who are accepted into WHC will receive scholarship information in their enrolment pack.

SCHOOL ZONING
All Students who reside in Western Heights residential zone will be offered a placement for 2025.
If you don’t reside in the zone, you are still welcome to apply for WHC. Depending on student numbers, you may be offered a placement or be put on a waitlist.

In support of your child’s enrolment application, we require (100 points) supporting documents which show the enrolling parent/guardians full name and permanent residential address as per the below table along with the completed enrolment documents provided to you. Without these documents we will not be able to process your child’s enrolment.
